Your Corporate Job Is Your Best Friend

Solopreneurship is having a moment.

LinkedIn seems filled with everyone living their best life, working four hours a day in an exotic location.

“I made $12,000/week my first month”

“I gained 100,000 followers from one post”

“I work on what I want when I want”

While the lifestyle looks amazing, the flip side is instability.

It’s easy to slag off corporate jobs because so much about them sucks.

But 71M people in the US go to a corporate job everyday.

There are reasons for that.

So how to thrive?

Recognize the system that you are in.

Play to win.

Appreciate what’s good.

Remember that employees are expendable.

Family is not.

Know that you can be fired at any time and plan accordingly.

While you are there, though, go all in.

So much of what is good in life comes from what we accomplish with and for one another.

Working for a company forces you to collaborate with other people.

It is anything but a solo venture.

It is that social aspect, in pursuit of a common goal, where the richness lies.

Especially when there are interesting colleagues.

The ones that have some personality.

Maybe they use the F-word.

Maybe they rail at the machine.

They are the anti-vanilla.

What if you decided to be as bold?

To tell as many stories.

To be worthy of stories being told about you.

To work just as hard to gain an audience in a corporate environment as solopreneurs do on social media.

What if you showed up at work with your whole self?

What if you told your stories?

There's some unspoken truth in our culture

that only those who have achieved financial success

or are in positions of authority

have stories that are worth listening to.

When we craft and build our stories

we realize the lessons learned.

We uncover what we find valuable.

And acknowledge what we have come through.

We realize that we have led interesting lives.

And our trials and joys have lessons worth sharing.

Show up in whatever system you're in

with 110% of yourself.

Embrace what is good.

And tell your stories.

When you’re ready, there are two ways I can help:

1) I highly recommend the same course ($150) I used to get started posting on LinkedIn (affiliate link): THE LINKEDIN OPERATING SYSTEM
